The Berlin Saxophone Quartet is one of the most highly regarded contemporary chamber music ensembles in Europe. Since its founding in 1983, the Berlin Saxophone Quartet has appeared on concert stages, on radio, and on television throughout Europe. Its first US tour was in 1993. A highlight of that tour was a concert at Carnegie Hall, where the Quartet premiered compositions by nine American composers. The Quartet has since performed in concert halls and at universities throughout the US. The Berlin Saxophone Quartet's extensive repertoire ranges from early music to baroque to romantic to contemporary music. The Quartet performs romantic works by composers such as J.B. Singelee (1857) and A. Glasunov (1936), who wrote music specifically for saxophone quartet. The Quartet also performs arrangements of other composers' works, such as J.S. Bach's Art of Fugue, arranged by Friedemann Graef. They enjoy adding new compositions to their repertoire, which also includes works for saxophone quartet and orchestra, saxophone quartet and string quartet, and saxophone quartet and piano or percussion or vocals.

The four uniquely talented members of the quartet combine their rich musical backgrounds to thrill audiences with their virtuosity and original interpretations. In addition to being superb saxophonists, each musician has impressive credentials as a composer, arranger, improviser, and conductor.

The Berlin Saxophone Quartet is supported by Auswärtiges Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bonn; Senatsverwaltung für Wissenschaft und Kultur, Berlin; Stiftung Preussische Seehandlung, Berlin; Lufthansa, Frankfurt; Selmer Düsseldorf; Mike Duchstein Saxophon-Service, Berlin; Condat, Berlin; Gloger - Handkraft, Groningen / Berlin; Freunde des Berliner Saxophon Quartetts e.V., Berlin.
